~ In-game description |
The Aeroflak Cannon is a weapon designed to damage and destroy aircrafts, and excels at that -- even a pair of coordinated flak-bots is able to deny any flying space.
Overview
Needs updating
This weapon fires a slow-moving projectile that automatically explodes when it's close to an airborne enemy robot. The blast radius is approximately as big as a megabay, and extra damage is made to flying enemy robots in the area or effect. This bonus damage and auto-explode feature do not work on ground-targets, therefore the Aeroflak Cannon is relatively useless against them. Backup weapons such as lasers, plasmas, or even teslas should be used to fend off ground units. However, switch back to flak if the enemy goes temporarily airborne. The flak projectiles will explode, and deal damage to jumping mechs or bots using an alignment rectifier as if they were air units, which helps with by almost assuring hits and keeping your effective dps high. This weapon is also very heavy and quite large, making it hard to use on some flying types of robots. Furthermore, the flak cannon will lose accuracy when the player's bot is currently flying. This is to prevent flyers from using them against other flyers. Be wary of cliffs or uneven terrain; if your bot leaves the ground, you will take an accuracy penalty. Similarly to determining whether or not a hover will cause a flak projectile to detonate, if a flak hover bot is too high above the ground, it will have the same accuracy penalty that air units have. Therefore a flak bot should NOT use hover blades, rather, use caterpillar tracks to keep your bot "glued" to the ground or at least use wheels.

Trivia
- Aeroflak Cannons were added in the Aeroflak Update on the 13th January 2016.
- Aerolak Cannons alternate shooting from each barrel on the weapon. If half the gun is behind an obstruction, the dps will be cut in half, but you will have the bonus of partial cover from adversaries.
- The Aeroflak Cannon is possibly the largest component in the game. It is also one of the few hardware cubes with multiple connection points, such as legendary plates, Laser Leviathans, Ion Distorters, and other large hardware cubes.
- The damage stacking effect was added in the Hallowfest 3 update on the 26th of October 2016.
